About Dr. Yukio Tamura
Professor Tamura is concurrently serving as Program Coordinator of Wind Engineering Joint Usage/Research Center of Tokyo Polytechnic University, Japan, and Professor of Beijing Jiaotong University, China. He has had significant research achievements over a wide range of wind engineering problems.He received many awards/prizes of different types including the ASCE Jack E. Cermak Medal in 2004, the JAWE Prize in 1994, and the AIJ Prize in 1993 for his research activities, the JAWE Publishing Award in 2014 for the book entitled Advanced Structural Wind Engineering edited by him, and the JAWE Design Award for his contribution to wind resistant design of the 634m-high Tokyo Sky Tree. He is a member of the Engineering Academy of Japan and the Science Council of Japan. He served as President of the International Association for Wind Engineering for 8 years from 2007 to 2015. Professor Tamura has also contributed to society by way of various social activities, including Chairman of the International Thematic Group for Wind-related Disaster Risk Reduction under the auspices of the United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Reduction. He is also serving as Honorary/Advisory/Adjunct Professor at many universities such as at the University of Notre Dame (US), Opole Technical University (Poland), Zhejiang University, Harbin Institute of Technology, and Tongji University.

About Dr. Greg Foliente
Greg is Senior Science Leader at CSIRO Ecosystem Sciences Division in Melbourne. He leads and manages R&D initiatives and projects at Australia’s national science agency on topics related to systems engineering and dynamics, climate mitigation and adaptation, sustainable built environment and transitions to urban sustainability.

Greg was conference co-chair of the 2008 World Sustainable Building Conference (World SB08 Melbourne), and was co-chair of the International Scientific Committee of the 2011 World Sustainable Building Conference in Helsinki, Finland (World SB11 Helsinki). He serves on the Board of the International Initiative for Sustainable Built Environment (iiSBE).

Considered as one of the world’s leading experts in the performance approach in Architecture, Engineering and Construction and Facility Management (AEC-FM), he was Program Director of the Performance Based Building networks in Australia and the Asia-Pacific region, and has led several international activities on this topic, including as the lead author of the Performance Based Building R&D Roadmap for CIB and the European Commission. He has contributed to the development of technical standards, engineering design and building codes in Australia, the USA and internationally (e.g. ISO).

Greg received his PhD and Masters’ degrees at Virginia Tech in the USA, and BSc in Civil Engineering at Mapua Institute of Technology. He also completed advanced management and leadership programs from the MIT Sloan School of Management in Boston and the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD). He has received a number of prestigious international awards – including the 2003 James Croes Medal from the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and the 1997 George Marra Award of Excellence from the international Society of Wood Science and Technology (SWST), among others. Greg sits on esteemed international scientific committees and had visiting appointments in overseas research institutions, including the Building Research Institute in Japan and the University of California in Berkeley. He has co-supervised a number of postdoctoral researchers and PhD students in universities in Australia, China, Japan and the USA. He has a very extensive scientific publications record, and is often invited to speak on innovation and sustainability in Australia and internationally.
